Air Conditioning Servicing

Regular servicing is important to maintain your air conditioning system working effectively, as up to 15% of the refrigerant gas will be lost annually from a nominally gas-tight system.

• Run your air conditioning at least once a week throughout the year.
• Have the refrigerant gas checked regularly and topped up to manufacturers' recommended levels at an Inchcape service centre near you.
• Help improve hygiene and air quality with a regular cabin filter change, as it can become blocked with pollen.
• A regular air duct clean helps remove the bacteria and fungi that can cause unpleasant odours.

Air conditioning has been rapidly standardised over the last 10 years due to the major enhancement it brings to passenger comfort. However, drivers are only just realising that air conditioning systems do require regular maintenance. Vehicle air conditioning systems will tend to lose refrigerant over time as refrigerant permeates through the physical joins between components. Over time this will cause deterioration in performance.

Worse still, if you leave air conditioning operating with low refrigerant levels more serious problems can occur, lubricant circulation may be affected and air or moisture may enter the system.
